Cary, LITH and Algonquin: “Best Cities for Illinois Families.”

Wondering which Illinois towns are best to raise a family? Quite a few McHenry County towns made WalletHub’s 2016 list. At the top are Cary (7); LITH (8); and Algonquin (22) out of 126 communities.

Other McHenry County towns that ranked high include Crystal Lake, Huntley, McHenry and Woodstock.

The study uses 21 metrics, including median family incomes, quality of schools, number of playgrounds, high school graduation rate, violent crime rate, divorce rate, unemployment rate and the percentage of families living below the poverty level. The No. 1 town, Morton, is located just southeast of Peoria.
