Towns Make Must-Visit List
Woodstock, Crystal Lake named must-visit Chicago suburbs.
Woodstock was named one of the best Chicago suburbs to visit by Thrillist, food, drink and travel website.
“As the town where much of the Bill Murray classic ‘Groundhog Day’ was filmed, Woodstock is instantly recognized by iconic film locations such as the Woodstock Opera House,” Thrillist said. “The town even goes as far to host a “Groundhog Days” festival every February with film screenings, beer tastings, and something called ‘groundhog bowling.’
Beneath the surface you’ll find a “cool little town with a surprisingly decent music scene, yours to enjoy at popular local watering holes like Liquid Blues,” it added.
While you’re in the area, Thrillist suggest traveling 10 minutes down the road (or rail) to the “pretty little town of Crystal Lake” with its “historic downtown and 40-plus parks, not to mention its picturesque namesake lake.”
