Christmas Clearing House
Christmas Clearing House partner program: a different kind of fundraiser.
“Something different.” That is what the Rotary Club of Woodstock had in mind when growing its Christmas Clearing House (CCH) program, which provides holiday food baskets and presents to 1,200 Woodstock and Wonder Lake families every year, including 2,000 children.
So it developed a partner program whereby local businesses sell special products with all proceeds from them benefiting CCH. “The thought was to work with the businesses to help each other – they get to highlight their store and products and we raise money for CCH,” said Laura Cullotta, who is spearheading this campaign for the Rotary Club. “We are very excited that Scorched Earth Brewery and the restaurants are part of this.”
Signature drinks is one such “different” idea. Scorched Earth, the Public House of Woodstock and Rendezvous Bistro, for example, are partnering to sell a special Christmas beer – Jolly Old Scrooge Barleywine – with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Christmas Clearing House.
“Growing-up in our hometown Marengo, we realized the positive impact local business can have on its community,” said Mike Dallas, owner of Scorched Earth. “Raising our family and operating the brewery here in McHenry County gives us the unique opportunity to give back and help our neighbors. Scorched Earth Brewing is excited to join the Rotary Club, Public House and Rendezvous Bistro in their efforts to help others in need during the holiday season.”
