“Building Dreams” is the theme for the 43rd Annual Crystal Lake Housewalk featuring four extraordinary homes showcasing the individual design visions and dreams of each family.

Each open house represents many thoughtful design features and personal touches that are reflective of the homeowner’s style. This year’s event is on Friday, September 15, with two scheduled showings from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5 p.m.-9 p.m.

“This year, our Housewalk features homes that encompass the heart and spirit of each family as they’ve designed, remodeled and built their own version of ‘home’ here in Crystal Lake,” said Housewalk Chairperson Kristen Wise. “The four homes feature in our theme of Building Dreams have a narrative and characteristics that you won’t want to miss.”

The home of Lynda and Bob Murray resembles a magnificent modern rustic retreat on the north east side of Crystal Lake. Designed by the homeowners, this home is constructed of timber farmed from a 300 mile radius of Galesburg, Ill., and features nine different types of woods as well as a breathtaking three-story fireplace.

The home of Don and Karen Barkley was lovingly restored by this couple to highlight this charming 1920s home, replacing the missing architectural pieces with salvaged items and blending new with old seamlessly, a new home and new family were created.

The Allen Home is the spectacular home of Tom and Jen Allen – a familiar sight to many as it was featured on our 2014 Housewalk. The home has undergone an extensive renovation and addition. A fan or the “Joanna Gaines” phenomenon, Jen has remodeled her entire home. This is a home not to be missed.

The last home Patrick and Kelly Cleary finally found their forever home. Their journey started here and has finally come full circle to raise their beautiful family. This magnificent five-bedroom house is set on a wooded lot with serene views from every window and the custom details are worth slowing down to take a look.

The Housewalk is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Service League, last year raising over $25,000 for those in need in Crystal Lake. All of the proceeds from all Service League events go back to the community in the form of scholarships to students at the local high schools or assistance to those in need in Crystal Lake.

Tickets are available for $30 before the event at slcrystallake.org or at the following businesses: Around the Clock Restaurant and Bakery, Countryside Flower Shop, Nursery and Garden Center, Dalzell & Co., 1776 Restaurant, Twisted Stem Floral, Wickham Interiors Inc., Yours and Meyn Simply Designed, Shay for You and Your Home and Mueller Interiors.

Tickets are also available the day of the walk for $40. Raffle tickets will also be available to win a cash prize of $500, $250 or two chances to win a set of three Chrysalis Collection bracelets (valued at $250) generously donated Dalzell Jewelers to be raffled at the conclusion of the Housewalk. Raffle tickets are priced at $5 each or 5 for $20 and are sold in advance by Service League members or the day of the event at each home.
