Why so few?
Only pilots with commercial license are permitted by the FAA to take a paying passenger. Not all of the pilots participating are commercial pilots. Some hold private pilot licenses.
Not all balloon baskets can carry the same number of passengers. There will be 2, 3, and 4 passenger baskets at the festival.

The event is being hosted by the Harvard Events Committee which was formed by the Harvard City Council as an extenstion to our community. The Harvard Events Committee mission is to plan and execute events for the enrichment of our communty. The Harvard Events Committee can see no better way to enrich our community than to distribute the proceeds from this event to the many Harvard Area Not-For-Profit organizations which partner with the Harvard Balloon Fest and serve our community.

75% of the Proceeds from this event will be awarded to those local Harvard area Not-For-Profit organizations which partner with the festival. (The City will hold 25% of the proceeds in reserve to be used for next year’s Balloon Festival.) Distribution is based on the percentage of total volunteer manhours each organization has dontated to their organization for the event. Volunteers don’t have to be a part of the organization, they simply designate the organization of their choice to receive credit for their manhours.
