‘Most Unique Town’

Woodstock Opera House © Dan Wiegel

Woodstock named “little Illinois town that might just be most unique in the world.”

McHenry County indeed has some of the most charming downtowns, and the website Only In Your State just named the Woodstock Square, “a town that will turn heads, have small town-lovers gushing and leave you feeling as if you stepped into a bygone era” and a “small town with a large spirit.”

There are a few reasons the site (and many others) feel this way, including:

  • The filming of cult classic, “Groundhog Day” starring Bill Murray
  • Gorgeous Victorian architecture
  • Its link to legendary filmmaker Orson Welles, Dick Tracy comic and many other pop culture icons
  • Seasonal attractions like Lighting of the Square, music and film festivals, and a huge farmers market
  • Great food and drink options
