Adopt-a-Grandparent Garden Program

Adopt-a-Grandparent Garden Program

Fisher Outreach Group Inc. of Crystal Lake, which has hosted giving programs for more than 20 years, is organizing its annual Adopt-a-Grandparent Garden Program.

The program provides custom-made container gardens to participating seniors and support a community garden project, that provides fresh fruits, vegetable, herbs and flowers that are distributed to the seniors weekly.

Just $25 goes a long way in supporting the health and happiness of seniors by providing them with their own personalized container garden.

“Studies have proven that getting your hands dirty in a garden can provide great physical and mental benefits for senior health,” said Director Jacci Richards. “Even the experience of caring for and nurturing a plant from a tiny seedling to maturity can bring a lot of joy!

“Whether you sponsor, volunteer, donate items or just share our information, you will help make a big difference,” she added.
