  • Beer-battered or baked haddock, or combo platter, all-you-can eat; or 7-piece lightly battered lake perch (not all you can eat).

  • Friday hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (all-you-can-eat starts at 4 p.m.)

2. Liquid Blues Ltd., Woodstock

  • Hand beer-battered and fried or baked cod dinner; or all-you-can-eat. Also, pan-fried cornflake-crusted catfish; catfish and shrimp po’ boy; grilled shrimp salad; or fried shrimp dinner.
  • Sides: Fries, potato pancakes, jalapeño corn hush puppies or deep fried horse radish-cheddar mash potato balls, plus apple sauce and coleslaw.
  • Friday hours: Bar, 3 p.m. to 2 a.m.; kitchen, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and fish fry, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • “It’s good! Icelandic cod, cajun catfish – individually hand-battered and prepared upon order. It has a 1960s ambiance, friendly staff and eclectic patrons.”

  • Lightly hand-breaded wild Alaskan cod, all-you-can-eat.
  • Sides: Coleslaw, role and butter, three-bean salad, choice of fries or potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce.
  • Friday hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • No reservations.
  • “Customers love our fish because our breading is light and our quality of fish is very high.”


4. Bobby’s Barrel Inn, Volo

  • Beer-battered, broiled lemon pepper, garlic butter or cajun cod, all-you-can-eat.
  • Sides: Choice of baked potato, french fries, curly fries – additional charge for potato pancakes with coleslaw and fresh roll.
  • Hours: Wednesday 6 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday 6 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • No reservations.
  • “It’s good! You don’t have to stick with the same fish all night. For example, you could start off with beer-battered and switch to garlic butter cod.”


5. Crandall’s Chicken, Hebron

  • All-you-can-eat: Icelandic cod; broasted chicken; chicken-and-fish combo.
  • Sides: Choice of mashed potato, french fries, potato pancakes. All-you-can-eat comes with cole slaw, cinnamon roll or dinner roll.
  • Friday hours: 11: 45 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • No reservations on Friday.
  • “We use fresh ingredients and try and make everything homemade because they want to use the best quality for customers.”
