Bhakti Fest MidWest
Bhakti Fest MidWest: ‘Woodstock-style’ gathering for yoga lovers.
Bhakti Fest Midwest, a weekend yoga retreat, makes its Chicagoland debut June 24-26, 2016, with a smaller, more intimate event than past years, giving participants a more personalized experience.
After four years in Madison, Wis., Bhakti Fest will take place this year at Midwest Conference Center in Northlake, Ill., dubbed “The City of Friendly People.”
Bhakti Fest brings world-renowned yoga teachers and musicians to offer the best in yoga, sacred music, dance, workshops and classes – all intended to inspire devotion.
If you have never had the opportunity to attend an event like this, it is a combination of Kirtan (yoga music) yoga and spiritual workshops.
This Woodstock-style gathering is a must for any yoga teacher or student looking to add a spark of inspiration to their practice or their teaching.
Bhakti Fest, ‘Bhav’ & You
Sridhar Silberfein, founder of the festival, began producing yoga festivals back in 2009. The family of festivals, which includes Shakti Fest (West Coast) has now grown to be the largest of its kind in the country.
I have taught at this festival for the last three years in Wisconsin and am honored to be again part of the Bhakti Fest family here in the Chicago area.
What I love about this event is that it’s like plugging in to the best parts of oneself. You can let go of your stresses, meet wonderful like minded people, and share in the vibe known as the “bhav.”
In addition to my Kundalini Yoga, Meditation and Gong class on Saturday, the three-day yoga line up includes Saul David Raye, internationally acclaimed yoga teacher; Amy Beth Treciokas of Yoga Chicago; and more.
The sacred music lineup includes Sean Johnston & the Wild Lotus Band, Milwaukee’s Ragani, David Newman and others. Music includes many genres, including the century-old practice of chanting – a way to connect inward to your source of spirit and inspiration.
Workshops will also be offered on a variety of wellness and spiritual topics by instructors including Radhanath Swami, the best selling author of “The Journey Home”; as well as Dr. Manoj Chalam and Preston Klik.
What’s more, you will find a healing sanctuary offering massage and various forms of healing modalities, an Eco Village featuring vegan, vegetarian and raw food, and vendor area selling artwork, crystals, ethnic instruments and more.
