Business Champs Honored
McHenry County Economic Development (MCEDC) announced the 2016 Business Champion Award winners at its 25th anniversary dinner in October. More than 450 business leaders attended the event, which culminates with the presentation of the 2016 Business Champion Awards.
For the past nine years, MCEDC has recognized outstanding companies who have positively contributed to McHenry County’s economy and who have exhibited business acumen and vision. Judging is conducted by a panel of independent and unbiased business leaders residing outside of McHenry County. “McHenry County is fortunate to have so many exceptional companies who not only have outstanding business expertise, but also give back to our community in so many ways,” said Pam Cumpata, president of MCEDC.
In the category of fewer than 24 employees, Heartland Cabinet Supply of Crystal Lake received the award; in the mid-size company category of 25 to 100 employees, Jessup Manufacturing of McHenry received the award; in the large category of companies that employ 101 to 299 employees, the 2016 Business Champion award was presented to JA Frate Companies of McHenry; in the category of more than 300 employees, MCEDC presented two awards: one for a privately held business and one for a nonprofit.
The first award went to another long-time McHenry County company, Fabric Molded Plastics. The second award in the 300-plus category was presented to Centegra Health System.
