“The Shufflers” are a Rockford based trio that provides live, acoustic, soft rock songs that make people feel good. The group began as a single person act, when Brad began to play guitar as an instrumental background for art galleries and other quiet settings. Brad asked Mark to join him and the dynamics of additional guitar and vocals were added. The initial name chosen for the duo was, “The Soft Shoe Shufflers”. K joined the duo later, to fill out the harmonies and provide light percussion. The name comes from a George Harrison tune called “Beware of Darkness” (1970), where a ‘soft shoe shuffler’ could come along as a con man. This song was played at the 1971 Concert for Bangladesh. The name of the trio was later changed to “The Shufflers”, as there was some confusion that the act included dancing. Since there was no dancing, the name was shortened to “The Shufflers”. Since its humble beginnings, the group has performed over 250 times, for 70 venues in 22 communities.
