Bait your friends and family with a morning of fishing fun at the Happy Trails Fishing Derby, a free event hosted in Jaycee Park in Cary on Saturday, September 14, from 9:00 - 11:30 am.
All ages are invited to start the day at the park shelter learning about fishing etiquette. New anglers receive a quick fishing lesson. Then, it’s off to the pond to see what you can catch (and release)!
Participants must be willing to touch worms or come with a partner who will. Fishing poles, tackle and bait are provided or you can bring your own. Anyone over the age of 16 must have a current Illinois Fishing License.
Raffle prizes, goody bags and information on fishing are also included. Pre-registration is recommended, but walk-ins at the event are welcome. This event will be held rain or shine.
Registration is accepted online at carypark.com or at the Community Center, 255 Briargate Road, Cary.
