Tours of the Old Courthouse & Opera House

Groundhog Day Chili Cookoff
One of the more popular events is the annual chili cookoff. The entries cook all morning in the Woodstock North High School culinary classroom. All of the meat is supplied by our sponsor Jewel Foods. The public is invited to sample the various recipes from 12 noon at the Moose, 2 blocks North of the town Square. The Moose was featured in the movie ‘Groundhog Day’. The bachelor auction and dance scenes were filmed here.

Walking Tour
Bob Hudgins is back to tell his behind the scenes stories from the filming of ‘Groundhog Day’ in 1992. Bob was the locations manager and helped Harold Ramis bring the production to Woodstock. This tour begins at 1:30, starting outside the Woodstock Moose Lodge, 406 Clay St, 2 blocks North of the Square. Bob will lead the tour around the Square and eventually end up at the Cherry Tree Inn Bed & Breakfast.

Fun and games are part of the annual Woodstock Groundhog Day festivities. Come inside, get warm and play bingo at the Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple, 2 blocks South of the Square.

Groundhog Day Pub Crawl
Join Woodstock Willie for a walk around town and a little fun with locals and visitors to Groundhog Day. The annual Woodstock Groundhog Day Pub Crawl is back again. It will be Saturday night February 1st. The fun starts by the fireplace on the patio in front of the Old Courthouse on the town square. Tickets are $20. The first 100 will get a commemorative Groundhog Day scarf to keep you warm on your walk around town. Participants will also get 2 drink tokens to use at participating establishments. The bars in the Pub Crawl are all within 2 blocks of the Square so you won’t need your car. Bundle up for a stroll around town. After getting your ticket you can go in any direction. Many of the places have drink specials and some serve food. Don’t stay out too late. The Prognostication Sunday morning is at 7am in the park in the Square. Participating Establishments:

Kiwanis Groundhog Day Trivia
The Kiwanis Club of Woodstock is hosting a Groundhog Day trivia event at Stage Left Café. Come test your knowledge of All Things Groundhog Day. Proceeds benefit the Woodstock Kiwanis Club. Team format with 1 to 10 people on a team. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams.
