Grab a paint brush and be a part of history at this Community Paint Day as renowned muralist Mauricio Ramirez works on his "Made in Woodstock" mural art on Benton Street.
Referred to as a contemporary Picasso, visual artist, painter and muralist Mauricio Ramirez is making his mark on The City of Woodstock with a new mural on Benton Street as part of the downtown beautification efforts. The week-long painting project is set to begin June 15.
Ramirez believes that community engagement is an important aspect of his work as a mural painter and that communities thrive when given the opportunity to engage directly with the process, creating a feeling of belongingness and a lasting tie to the project. Therefore, a Community Paint Day is set for Saturday, June 18 from 10am-12pm at the 220 N. Benton Street site. The public is invited to meet and watch Ramirez in action, learn about the process and then pick up a brush and take part in painting a section.
