Arranmore St. Patrick’s Day Concert
Off Square Music will present the Chicago-based Irish-American band Arranmore in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Unity Spiritual Center of Woodstock, 225 Calhoun St.
Aranmore takes its name from an island off the northwest coast of Donegal in Ireland. Although it started out as an Irish pub band, over the past 15 years the group has evolved into what is better described as an Americana/folk/Celtic-music- influenced act.
Arranmore has deftly navigated the Irish-American musical crosscurrents, artfully blending multiple musical influences long before Americana became a music industry buzzword. The group has won acclaim from critics at the Chicago Tribune (“A talented quintet in transition, from a traditional Irish outfit to a broader-based contemporary folk group”) and the Chicago Sun-Times ( “… an infectious hybrid sound”) and has garnered airplay on NPR and Chicago radio giant WGN-AM (“Truly a Chicago staple,” said Dean Richards.) Come join us for an evening of the verdant enthusiasm that Arranmore shares with their audience.
Suggested donation is $15.
