Harvest Fest

Off Square Music announces plans for the 2017 Woodstock Harvest Fest and Fair in the Square, to be held Sunday, Sept. 17, on the bandstand in the Park in the historic Woodstock Square, which will include a bluegrass music festival featuring three outstanding bluegrass groups from the Midwest: Anderlik, Otto & Church,  Chicken Wire Empire, and The Special Consensus
About the bands:
Anderlik, Otto & Church-
Chicago-based musicians and singers Rob Anderlik, Pat Otto and Mike Church have combined their talents in a new project that explores the intersection of bluegrass, blues and rock music. Their live shows feature extended jams and plenty of hot licks, but never at the expense of the melody of the song. And while the band respects its musical roots, it manages to bring something fresh and new to their arrangements of tunes that range from the Allman Brothers to Bill Monroe and Pink Floyd.  Visit for more about the band.
Chicken Wire Empire-
Contemporary tones blend with traditional roots in the sound of Milwaukee-based Chicken Wire Empire.  The band formed in 2012 and has wasted no time establishing themselves as one of the up-and-coming bluegrass ensembles in the Midwest.  Ryan Ogburn (mandolin), Jordan Kroeger (upright bass), Seth Foerster (guitar) and John Peik (banjo) make up Chicken Wire Empire. Visit for more about the band.
The Special Consensus-
Chicago-based Special Consensus is a superb bluegrass outfit in a classic vein but with more than enough modern sensibilities to attract every ear in this now pleasantly fractionating genre.  Their 2012 album “Scratch Gravel Road” was nominated for a Grammy as Best Bluegrass Album.  Band leader and banjo player is Greg Cahill; the rest of the band  include guitar player Rick Faris, bass player Dan Eubanks and mandolin player Nick Dumas.  Visit for more about The Special Consensus.
Requested donation for Bluegrass in the Square is $10.
Harvest Fest also will include the farmers market, old-time crafts, pumpkin carving, a blacksmith, antique tractors and much more.   Local favorite musical performers will be performing on the bandstand in the Square throughout the day starting at 10 a.m.
The Fair in the Square portion of Harvest Fest will present craft vendors from throughout the Midwest offering a wide variety of handmade craft items for sale; shoppers will have the opportunity to do some early holiday gift shopping.
