Memorial Day Events

McHenry County Memorial Day remembrance events.


Memorial Day Ceremony, 10 a.m., Lake in the Hills American Legion, 1101 W. Algonquin Road, Lake in the Hills, parade starts at 10 a.m. ending at the Veteran’s Memorial, cook out for marchers and the community to give thanks to all who have served.


Memorial Day Parade, 10:15 a.m., Holy Cross Lutheran Church, First Street and Three Oaks Road, Cary, followed by a ceremony at Cary Veterans Park.

Cary Grove AMVETS Flags at Windridge, 5 p.m., Windridge Memorial Park


Memorial Day Parade & Cemetery Service, 11 a.m., Crystal Lake Central High School, east on Franklin Avenue, north on Williams Street and west on Woodstock Street to Union Cemetery for a memorial service.


Memorial Day Parade, 8:30 a.m., starting at Algonquin Road School, 975 Algonquin Road, Fox River Grove, down Algonquin Road to South River Road to the baseball diamond at Lions Park for a program. There will be a 21-Gun Salute at the end of the parade in the park.


Memorial Day Parade, 11 a.m., Huntley Municipal Complex, 10987 Main St., west on Main Street to the Huntley Town Square for a brief ceremony. All are invited to the Legion Hall for a free sandwich. Sponsored by the American Legion Post 673.


Memorial Day Ceremony & Parade, 9 a.m., starting at the Waterfront Hotel & Marina by the Chapel Hill Bridge, Johnsburg. A river wreath ceremony will be conducted to honor fallen naval officers. Flying aircraft again are part of the ceremonies. Parade follows the ceremony to the Johnsburg Community Club for an Armed Forces Memorial. A baseball game will follow. Food and beverages will be served picnic-style. Antique and military vehicles also will be on display.

The Wall That Heals, through 3 p.m., Memorial Day, May 28, at McHenry Township Park (3703 N. Richmond Rd.). This is a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.


Memorial Day Service, 10 a.m., Stevens Park, Broadway and Main streets, Richmond.


Memorial Day Ceremony & Parade, 10 a.m., Woodstock Square

Memorial Day Exhibit, Woodstock Square, May 16 – June 16, memorabilia exhibit around the square featuring uniforms and collections from Woodstock service men and women.


Monday, May 28 from 8 am to 1 pm
