Illinois Made Brewery
McHenry County brewery recognized by Illinois Office of Tourism.
Travelers seeking a “a unique and authentic experience” in Illinois have a new resource with Illinois Made, a program launched by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Office of Tourism. And McHenry County is now on the map with Scorched Earth Brewing being named an official Illinois maker.
The ongoing program highlights the depth and diversity of Illinois’ makers, creators and artisans. The idea is to “inspire new and repeat travelers to discover these gems,” explained Cory M. Jobe, director of the Office of Tourism.
What sets Scorched Earth apart as an Illinois maker is that it does more than brew beer here – it’s homegrown through and through. It partners with local farmers for fresh, seasonal ingredients, the work of local designers give the taproom its warm, rustic look and feel, and the walls are accented with reclaimed wood from old McHenry county barns.
“To us, this award is a symbol of not only our hard work and the quality product we provide, but our passion to work with other local artisans like Ethereal Confections and Heider’s Berry Farm, to showcase their quality ingredients,” said Mike and Jennifer Dallas, owners.
