May 5: Home Grown Spring Fair

McHenry County Living presents Home Grown, the area’s premier program celebrating handcraft, food, beverages and art made here, from the ground up, by hand and from the heart. This is the first of four makers fairs in 2018.

May 20: Fair Diddley

June 1-3: Harvard Milk Days

June 23: Beach Blast

June 24: A Day at Petersen Farm

July 4-7: Lakeside Festival

It’s “The Granddaddy of All Festivals” in McHenry County attracting 50,000-plus people with live music, Taste by the Lake, thrilling rides, midway games, fireworks, historic tours, and a huge selection of beer and wines on the grounds of the Dole Mansion.

July 8: Heritage Fair

33rd Annual Heritage Fair. Theme: “Illinois Patriotic Pride.” Dress in red, white and blue to mark the state’s bicentennial. Features an antique car show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; White Elephant Sale starting at 9 a.m.; pie-baking contest at 9:30 a.m. Antique auction with auctioneer Russ Davis will be at 10:30 a.m. Free admission.

July 12-14: Rockin' Ribfest

The Rotary Club of McHenry’s three-day festival features acclaimed blues performers, craft beers (and other libations) and food vendors — plus a pro-level barbecue contest. Premier Sponsor D.C.
