Adopt-a-Grandparent Program Launches for Holiday Season

Fisher Outreach Group Inc. of Crystal Lake, which as hosted holiday giving programs providing gifts to children and their family’s for more than 20 years, is dedicating the 2021 giving season to the senior citizens in McHenry County. 

“Our experience during the COVID pandemic opened our eyes to how many seniors there are in McHenry County who don’t have family or friends as part of their support system,” said director Jacci Richards. “Seeing the great need in our community we decided to redirect our annual gift giving program for 2021 to our local senior citizens.

Fisher Outreach Group has “adopted” the residents at the Fair Oaks Health Care Center in Crystal Lake; the residents of the Lutheran Social Services of Illinois’s Gable Point location in Crystal Lake; and will be working directly with seniors and senior veterans who are referred to the program.

“It is our goal to provide holiday gifts and much needed necessities to these residents and to remind them that they are not alone or forgotten,” Richards said.

Fisher Outreach Group is a McHenry County non-profit organization that works on 100 percent volunteer power to provide assistance to area residents in need; assists other non-profit organizations with their programs; and works directly with veterans, seniors and local families in need.
